Not that I've noticed George's problem much, but I looked in my Midi
Setup Dialog, and didn't see the checkbox referred to by David. I'm
running Fin2004 for Mac.

That did it!
Thanks so much Richard.
A final question for the list. This just started happening and is
happening more consistently:
When I stop the playback controls, the last note or notes sounded at
the point of stopping playback
continue unabated even after shutting down Finale.
The drone of notes will only cease once I shut down the keyboard
controller.
Has a setting changed somewhere?
I hope I'm clear and once again thanks so much to the list for your
help.
George Boziwick
In the Midi Setup dialog is a checkbox called Match On/Off which
should be checked to be sure that there is a note-off sent for each
note-on. Otherwise, you may well get the result you are describing if
you stop playback while some notes are in the middle of a tied note
when you stop.
