The "extra copies of the same shape" thing doesn't happen anymore in 2005...at least not in the mac version. I've also never had a problem with a Finale file getting too big because of shape expressions.
What on earth are you talking about? Fin2005 works exactly like same way as earlier versions in this respect = a shape duplicate is created for each metatool shape expression you put in the document.
Perhaps I'm not remembering correctly but it seems that I remember Finale creating extra copies of the "metatooled" shapes in the (shape) expression selection window list itself (not just in the score) in previous versions of the program. This lead to annoying clutter in the expression list and the "file bloat" that I thought (perhaps mistakenly) Aaron was referring to. I have so many things metatooled that I rarely even see this shape expressions window anymore. So if I'm remembering incorrectly please accept my apologies.
Even so, I've never had a finale file get so big that multiple shape expressions are a problem. In my experience, Finale files are relatively small.
Best,
Karen
