Ashlee Simpson, pop "singer", on lip-synching, in an interview recently in Lucky Magazine:

"I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me."

However, on Saturday Night Live the night before last, Ashley Simpson was the "musical" guest.

On the first song (which I did not see), reportedly her lips did not match up well with her vocals as she danced around with her hand over her face

On the second song, which I did see, as the song kicked in with the band playing live, the sound guy, in error, plays the vocal track from the FIRST song. As the band realizes what's happening , they stop, then immediately, (and quite deftly) switch to the first song, just as the first song vocal gets cut off. Simpson is totally bewildered, holding what we all assume to be a dead mic, and has started doing a stupid hoe down dance in desperation. She then prances off the stage as the band continues to play without her. The band members show a bit of a smirk as they cut loose to jam a little before the show goes to a quick commercial.

At the end when the cast comes out to say goodnight Ashlee takes the mic and has the audacity to blame her band for playing the wrong song. I think she should have thanked them for trying to cover her, uhh, narrow posterior.

I'm afraid her fifteen may be up.
