all of a sudden my expressions all went away
this has happened to me a couple of times in the past, and the times when i tried to fix the expressions created even more bizzare behaviour, and some of them would subsequently disappear again unexpectedly. it didn't seem to corrupt the file, everything else seemed fine. i suggest accepting them as lost and recreating them, you'll save more time and avoid frustration that way than trying to fix them. try to delete the old expressions from the document, or at least go to edit them all, select all and delete, so that you are sure no residue appears in the score.
since F2k3, tempo expressions using multiple fonts can be done as text, without resorting to shape expressions.
