If it is any help, I see this in non-Finale files as well in OS 10.3.5, latest everything.

For example, in AppleWorks 6, I have a word processing file written in English called 'Rhythm Section Notation.' I opened it up, changed the name to 'Rhythm Section Notation french (not done)' and started translating it, paragraph by paragraph, into French, with all the usual accents. At some point after saving the file and reopening it a few times over the course of the next few days, I noticed that in most windows EXCEPT the main directory (like the file name at the top of the window, how the file is listed in my printer dialogue box, how it shows up in the Open File dialogue box, etc.), the file name was displayed as 'Rhythm Section Notatio#172877FE'

This behaviour is consistent with this file, and I notice a similar effect on other files that I have treated the same way.

For the record, I haven't noticed this yet in any Finale file, only AppleWorks in French. I always assumed it was an OS problem, not an app problem, but I may be wrong.

BUG in naming extracted parts with certain file names.
*************

If the name of the file contains accented letters
(like in á or é) or other characters like ø or å,
the names of the extracted parts will contain a string of spurious
characters, usually Chinese, Japanese or Korean, at the end.

Ex. If the file is named Sinfonía 1.mus the extracted parts will show as

Sinfonía 1 Flute 1.mus |@#¢∞¬÷÷“

This problem has been reported by several users.

I hope you can find a fix for this annoying bug that force users no to use
their local language.

Saludos, Javier.
