What I do is to turn off "Time Signatures" in staff attributes on all staves except the two or three (depending on what you prefer) where I want to attach the large time sigs. You can do this quickly using the Global Staff Attributes plug-in.
Then, you will have to change the way the Time sigs display in two places.
1) Options>Document Options ...Fonts and from the notation drop down menu choose Time. Then click on Set Font. Choose a font you like and then play with the size to get something you like.....it will have to be a pretty big number! I use EngraverTime . But you can use other fonts...the size will have to be set to much bigger though if you don't use Engraver Time.
2) Then you have to go to Options>Document Options ,,,,Time Signature and experiment with the vertical adjustment settings and space before/after settings.
When you find a combination you like...write down all these settings including which staves you attached the time sigs to. (or take screen shots!)
I don't use part extraction to create parts in Finale. So, without changing other settings, your extracted parts will come out with large time signatures on the parts...maybe someone on the list that is more savvy with how to set up the extraction settings can help here...I don't know if it is possible or not to have separate time sig settings between score and parts.
But, what you can do is to keep doing what you are doing now...writing into your usual score template and extracting your parts from that score as usual. Then duplicate that score, call it something like xyzscoreconductor, and then change the time signature settings on that score as described above. Once you come up with settings that you like (that will be the time consuming part), you will find that this process can be done in a few minutes.....

I know this has been discussed in the past, but unless I'm missing something, searching the archives of this news list is not practical. I'm looking for suggested techniques for using large format meters as found in many contemporary scores, rather than a normal-size meter on every staff. Part extraction should still produce normal meters, of course. TIA.
