And what happens when yet another on-line company goes belly-up, taking all your backups with them? And how secure are they, anyway? They're nothing but hard-drives that live in somebody else's house or office.


Why not copy to external hard-drives on a rotating basis and simply keep them in a safety-deposit box at a nearby bank?

With hard-drives costing around $99/120GB, I don't see how your on-line backup is any more secure (how many people are constantly trying to hack into Apple's servers at any one time, I wonder) and certainly is no bargain.
