When I copy eight rest / eight note tied to / quater note, I obtain eight rest / dotted quater note.
Do you know the solution?
I was going to reply that such behavior often is a result of your quantization settings or whether you have Partial Measures turned on or not, since that has seemed to have caused such behavior in the past.
However, I just tried to recreate your problem (with WinFin2005a) and I can't get the program to do what you are saying it is doing on your machine.
