However...
Finale already is a sequencer, just not a very good one. We really could use a mixer (in its own window that graphically followed MIDI instructions already in the score and could record new ones), a tempo graph, more MIDI channels, and the freedom to change views and sizes while a score is playing. (I'm leaving out other sequencer functions just to be brief.)
Much of this could be done with a better GUI and consolidating aspects of other tools such as Hyperscribe, Transcription, MIDI, Quantization, HP and Playback. There would obviously have to be some rebuilding of parts of Finale, but much could be improved just by having a better user interface with what is already there.
An example:
Windows users have access to a third-party plug-in where you can draw tempo maps. This isn't available for the Mac, but I don't see why something like that couldn't be part of the program.
What does the list think? Am I dreaming in technicolor?
