If you go to Staff>Define Staff Styles and find your Rhythmic Notation Staff Style (from the drop down menu at the top of the window) do you have the "copyable" check box checked?

I've come up with a slightly kludgy work-around (clear the rhythmic notation staff style and change the "rhythmic notation" notehead via the note shape tool, but I'd rather know what's wrong, too..
Thoughts?
