I find rubber bands very effective for editing (Graphire uses them). Aside from seeing the relationships immediately (no clicking involved, except to turn the view on), in some applications you can drag the ownership from one item to another by dragging the rubber band. If you've every used AudioMulch or Analog Box and similar programs, you know how much speed you can gain from rubber bands. This would be very handy for me with the between-staff smart shapes that, when working quickly, I sometimes put on the wrong staff. Are there any programs left that use handles (as distinct from selection points or nodes)? I've never seen much use in selection handles, especially because they can fall behind one another. Dragging actual items is much handier for me, and with Finale it could be made to update the tool in use automatically. The famously wasted Finale right-click (still wasted past 2K3?) could then be used for context menu activity instead of handles.
