We are indeed in agreement, but looking at different ways :-) I#dim is diatonic, substitutes V/II, II#dim is diatonic, substitutes V/III, But what we got confused was that VII dim is not diatonic as to how the diminish chord dictates its scale. VII dim is just a V without the root. If you are interested in how I take diatonic diminish chords: <http://a-no-ne.com/music/theory/> Book II has the topic :-) This, marked Draft, has error on this topic. Wherever I said 'diminished chord resolve to' should be read 'move to' instead, because there is no tonal resolution, while VII dim subbing for V does have tonal resolution. By the way, all the music example was done in FinMac3.2. Are we on-topic now? :-) -- - Hiro Hiroaki Honshuku, A-NO-NE Music, Boston, MA <http://a-no-ne.com> <http://anonemusic.com> _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
