"To port" simply means "to rewrite for a different platform/OS." Native Instruments Kontakt was written (and optimized) for Windows, and then ported to Mac OS X. The original version of Kontakt is optimized for Intel hardware, but apparently NI did not put much effort into optimizing their Mac port for G4/G5 chips, so it performs rather poorly on the Mac vs. a similarly powerful PC.
