Darcy et al,
I just checked what happens here on my setup.
I opened 2005 and opened a file in it. Prefs were there, except for the screen positioning (which seems to get easily "forgotten" when switching versions) - not a big deal. I then quit 2005 and started 2005a, opening the same document. All preferences were there, including the window position. There is a file labeled 2005 preferences in my Finale folder (which contains both versions of the application) and no file labeled 2005a preferences. Unless I've missed something (always a possibility), this is how it seems to be working on my setup.
Does this help?
Chuck
Not really, because it sure doesn't work that way on my system! (Or Brad's. Or anyone else's, as far as I know.)
There's got to be something particular about your setup that is somehow causing Fin2005 and Fin2005a to use a different set of preferences, so that running Fin2005 after running Fin2005a doesn't wipe your preferences. Normally, you would accomplish this by putting 2005 and 2005a in separate folders. But since you say that both apps reside in the same folder, I have no idea what that might be.
But whatever it is, if it's working, don't mess with it!
