I know perfectly well how long it takes, being a computer professional in another life. The thing is, I have no interest in spending any time doing this kind of stuff on my own nickel. I want the quickest route there, and I don't want to have to remember what I did two years ago.

Once you systemize this, it's really nothing on Mac.  I reinstall Win2K
test machine every month off backup image.  I _rebuild_ clean Win2K test
machine every 6 month.  You don't want to hear how long it takes!
