once again, seconds after sending a message i find the (partial) solution. it turns out (or seems to have turned out so) that certain tasks - for example mouse simuation - can't be done while the iKey editor is open, even though i was updating everytime.

also something that i found to be helpful was to set a "move to 0/0" at the start of each mouse simulation sequence, because sometimes it was clicking outside the windows, apparently using relative values for positioning in the active window instead of absolute (?).

i had also reduced most of the pauses to 0, but apparently this has to be done quite a bit more judiciously than i had done...

Finale is not giving that dialog box as a window so you have to go by
absolute screen position. The good news is Finale always put it to the
consistent position so it does work. I am using it.

i tried that as well, but i am finding that _only_ the first time i use it works properly, then after that it seems the Press Enter command is somehow sent before the mouse clicks, even when i tell it to wait one second before doing it!? so i get the "nothing selected to move or copy" message.

and actually, this happens whichever sequence i try to use after a first successful sequence run, i can only do another successful one by going back to the editor, and quitting again to return to finale. even when i insert a Make Pause command (of 5 seconds!), the final Press Enter (or Return) jumps the gun.

dammit, this thing is supposed to be SAVING me time!
