Wouldn't it be a little strange to have trumpet parts in alto clef? That would put them awfully low. Could they be for trombones? Or, horns, though unlikely? Do they double a voice part? Are they in alto clef always? What is the range of the parts.
Alto clef isn't that low, it just puts middle C on the middle line of the staff -- the original didn't say how many ledger lines were used above the staff.
Lots of 3rd-trumpet stuff I played in junior high could have lived quite easily on the alto clef and never used a single ledger line.
