Save some money and get a less expensive card that supports Vv. I picked up a 8500 Pro Mac Edition new for about $120. That is AGP 4x. If you have a G5 Powermac, I think your only option is the 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition. See my tech tips faq (linked from website below) for more info.

The only downside of the 8500 is that currently it only works with the DVI port. The ADC port does not work with any of my monitors. I have tried two different cards and suspect a firmware problem that I hope will be fixed with the next firmware update. Meanwhile, even with only one 8500 port I am no worse off than I was in OS9. In fact, I'm much better off because it isn't so flakey.

Just got a new monitor arm for my 24" Samsung Syncmaster monitor which allows 90 degree rotation. Which ATI graphics card do I need in order to have the Versavision option (Mac OS X)? I see two different version of the ATI 9800 pro; one with 128 MB of RAM, and one with 256. Does it make a difference? (Games and other graphic intensive uses are not a big priority for me.)

TIA,

Chuck
