John,

My printer can handle up to 11x17. It's a Ricoh Laser
AP2610N with the duplexer. I wish I could do 12x18!

As for the brand and type, I use BOISE Vellum Offset
60 lb. I have it in both 11x17 and 8.5x11. Depending
on how the final product will be bound determines the
size of page I use. I like to use the Beige color, but
I have clients who prefer white. As a performer, I
find that bright stage lights reflecting off of the
white paper hurts my eyes. And, if beige is good
enough for those old Breitkopf & Hrtel editions, it's
good enough for me. The big drawback to this brand is
that it is not acid free. I haven't taken the time to
look for an acid free paper of similar quality.

I buy my paper at the local Kelly Paper shop.

If there's not one near you, I think you can purchase
online. They'll also cut custom page sizes, but I
haven't used that service yet.

I only make cuts in the paper when I make my 11x14
conducting scores. My paper cutter (Premier brand from
GBC, I think) is 24''x24'', and can cleanly cut about
4 pages at a time. There are more expensive cutters
that will eat through a hundred pages at once, but I
don't work in large enough volumes to warrant
purchasing one of those.

I use the clear and black vinyl covers from GBC to
make the scores a little more sturdy. Vinyl covers in
the larger sizes are hard to find, but I was lucky to
find a local bindery willing to sell to me in bulk.
Apparently you can't purchase directly from GBC's
websitethey never responded to my email inquiry!

I have a GBC brand comb binder, as well. I bind the
full scores with that and some of the larger piano
things that can't be stapled due to the size.

Hope that answers som eof your questions, John. Good
luck on this next big project!

Ryan
