More the instances, bigger the buffer. Buffer size is usually determined by the hardware driver, i.e., built-in is set to 512. All of pro audio hardware allows up to 2048. Before I got G5 Dual-2.5GHz, running sample based virtual instrument on my lowly Dual-450 was a joke especially before MachFive implemented streaming. I was only able to instantiate in real-time one instrument a time. Buffer set to 256 was the only acceptable latency. So, my only choice was to record MIDI track with K2600Rs then reassign the track to virtual instrument after raising buffer size to 2048. That way, I don't need to care the latency :-) -- - Hiro Hiroaki Honshuku, A-NO-NE Music, Boston, MA <http://a-no-ne.com> <http://anonemusic.com> _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
