Hi Allen,
I don't know if this helps, but...
I had the File Overwrite bug bite me again. However, this is the first time I've had the contents of a score replaced by the contents of a file that was *not* a part generated from that score. The file whose contents overwrote my score was actually pretty clean... just a few bars of music entered into the Finale 2005 default file. I also added a few staves. So it appears it can happen to any two files (although it always seems to be the contents of the *big* files that are replaced by the contents of the smaller files).
The reason I quit was that the Mass Edit tool was no longer responding correctly. (Dammit, I should RECOGNIZE the warning signs by now, but I've been up all night... ) There were a couple of measures highlighted, and it was impossible to un-highlight them, and they remained highlighted when I switched to a different tool.
The other thing I noticed is that the Finale Temp Files were not automatically deleted on quit. However, this happens fairly regularly.
Finale had been running for a long time, and memory may have been getting tight. (When GPO is running and you only have 1 GB of RAM, memory is *always* tight.)
I was in Page View when Finale started acting up, but not the Page Layout tool. As I said, I was using the Mass Edit tool.
Hope this helps... this remains a very frustrating problem.
