Tools | Options, General, click CHECK NOW in the default browser area 
of the dialog.

At least, that's what my older version of FireFox has. The Mozilla 
project has always believed that, unlike Internet Explorer, it should 
be easy to affirmatively go to your browser's options and make it the 
default browser, so even if the UI is not exactly as I've described 
it, it should be easily locatable.
