Yes, but you *wouldn't* get a piece of music with treble clef down to open C -- because the composer of that piece had the good sense to pass on his draft manuscript to Ryan to clean it up. Ryan, in turn, knew well enough to post here and solicit further advice from violists and notationists on this forum. Based on Ryan's later description of the situation, it sounds like the composer is also consulting with local violist friends about the music. It seems to me like everything is being done right here.
That said, if I were the one seeking advice on viola notation, I would thank John for his valuable input, no matter how grumpily it may have been expressed.
