Hyperscribe consistently crashes Finale if I try to input two or more
similtaneous notes (I am using the standard sustain pedal and an 88-key
Yamaha P-120). Hyperscribe consistently notates inaccurately if I
limit input to single consecutive pitches -- a quarter note will be
notated as several tied whole notes. To add to the vexation, once
Finale crashes the Midi device reports itself as "busy" and I have to
reboot. Warm vs. cold rebooting has no effect on the problem, either.
I have tried a variety of troubleshooting techniques, but the
problem recurs regardless of the choice of Midi-out device, record
mode, quant settings, or receive on all or one channel.
I am able to "record" into and "play" from a very old piece of
notational software, so the computer and keyboard do communicate. I am
also able to input from my Midi device using Speedy entry.
I used to input from a very cheap 60-note keyboard, and Finale
never crashed with it.
Technical support suggested I use a different Midi-out driver,
which did not solve the problem.
The only logical idea that suggests itself to me is that the midi
buffer may be overflowing, but I have no idea how to fix it even if
that were the case.
Do any of you have suggestions as to possibly remedies?
