oh yes, of course, programme options -> edit, how could i forget something so intuitive... jeez.
what i don't understand is why all of a sudden they don't work (or work differently). there is no reason font annotation should act differently on a different computer is there? i upgraded from OSX.3.8 to .9 in the changeover (imported the user via "setup assistant"), but i don't see how this could change anything either.
a few days ago i added a few glyphs to this font, but didn't change any existing glyphs. didn't change any global settings either, so this also shouldn't have anything to do with it.
so far i've only found one character that seems to be problematic, and have adjusted it... i'm sure there are others... i've solved my problem for the moment, but i want to know why it happened dammit!
