This is most likely caused by some HP bug triggered by it processing some particular type of data. Sometimes, you can find out what it is (and perhaps even work around it) by making a custom HP style that disables certain elements. When HP preprocesses the playback, you also sometimes get some hints of the "problematic data type" by looking at the text at the progress bar.
Send a bug file to tech support and perhaps also directly to Robert Piechaud.
