It doesn't for me. It may change the clef in the problem measure, but 
that I still need to have a mid-measure clef change, and it still 
won't let me apply that to the offending measure.

Well, then, what version of Finale are you using? I never used to 
have problems, but I upgrade from WinFin97 to WinFin2K3 -- that's 
when I started having problems.

And maybe the problem happens only with files created with older 
versions of Finale. I don't know, as my files are a hodge-podge of 
files based on templates based on files created in earlier versions 
(97, 3.52 and 2.01).

If copying were reliable, I'd just create a new file and copy 
everything into it, but the problem is that there are way too many 
things that don't get copied, or that get mucked up during the copy.
