Michael,
I can recommend GPO highly.

First, you will need a fast computer with a lot of memory. GPO stores sounds in
RAM, so for an ensemble of any medium-large size, you will need at least 1GB of
Ram. A Pentium 4 processor of 2.x gHz is also helpful, but the RAM is critical.

You will need to learn how to use GPO STUDIO in order to use GPO with Finale.
Studio is a program that appears to Finale as a MIDI out. If your drivers are
old, you will have some small issues with latency--playback may lag screen
display slightly.

Finally, you will have to reconfigure your dynamics, etc., to work with GPO.
Where general MIDI uses velocity for dynamics, GPO uses CC1 (Mod Wheel) on
non-percussive instruments for dynamics.

So IF you have the hardware/RAM firepower AND you are willing to invest a
little time learning how things work in GPO with Finale, you will be repaid
handsomely.

Though I have to a large extent switched over to Overture since it is more
GPO-friendly and will eventually handle VSTs with ease, I still have Finale
2004 and have converted many of my scores to GPO.

Evidently 2005 claims to be more GPO-friendly, but I find Human Playback to be
a mixed blessing in general, and with GPO.

Please look at WWW.GARRITAN.COM in geberal, and go to the Finale Support area.
You'll find some helpful goodies there.

Jim

Subject: [Finale] Garritan Personal Orchestra Recommendation?

Does anyone have experience of Garritan Personal Orchestra and would
recommend the product or are there superior alternatives?
Are there limitations of usefulness that are not covered in normal
"sales
pitches"? e.g. Are there functional dependencies on latest versions of
Finale or type of sound card being used? [I have Finale 2002, a
Soundblaster Audigy Live sound card, but no MIDI keyboard or other
        independent sound modules]
