I agree with Aaron on his suggestions. I love my pen drive.
For added security, I used Disk Utility to put a blank encrypted disk
image on the pen drive. When I add data to it, I make sure to put it
into the encrypted image that will mount on the desktop. That way,
if I were to lose the pen drive, there is at least password
protection.

But a pen drive (by which I assume you mean a flash ROM drive) is by
far the easiest solution. CompUSA and Best Buy routinely have 256MB
drives for $30 or so, and then you'll have it sitting around and
will be amazed at how useful it can be.
