I don't use Tiger yet, but I often lose MIDI in Panther when I sleep.
My workaround, though, is to go into MIDI menu, select MIDI Setup, turn
input and output devices to None, then back again to what they were.
This usually wakes up Finale.
Sometimes after sleeping I lose playback only. In this case I go into
MIDI menu, to Internal Speaker Playback. I switch to something else,
then back, and all is well.
