Actually, that isn't the same as Clear Items...Everything. Your
method is the same as Clear Entries and Smart Shapes, and leaves
measure attributes, measure-attached expressions, repeats, and time
signatures intact.
Yes, the clear key does this with highlighted areas, and that's
what's usually needed (in my experience). If I needed the Measure
Items cleared as well, I'd probably delete and replace the measures
altogether. That operation only takes a couple of seconds, so I am
in agreement with Chris that
using the "clear" key the way it is set up is quite practical in most
cases.

I don't know of a Mac equivalent for Clear Items... Everything, but
on the other hand, how often does one have to do that? I can live
with the menu method for that rare occasion.
