What if someone recorded your discussions in the pub and then broadcast them on a public television station? Would you be OK with that, since your words were spoken in a public place?

I don't know about the UK (I believe you're in the UK?), but in the US, you can't record someone without their permission. And you certainly can't broadcast a recording without permission to broadcast even when you have permission to record the conversation.


In a public place, I'm pretty sure it's legal to record any converstaion. Of course, IANAL. And whether this list is public or private is still debatable, despite assertions to the contrary.
