Phil, that sorts the whole mailbox by whatever column you click on. In recent versions of Eudora, if you Alt-click on a *particular* subject or sender, Eudora will quickly group and select all matching emails without changing the rest of the sort. If you close and open the mailbox, your previous sort is still valid.
This may or may not be something that's useful to you. I have found it useful in ways that re-sorting the mailbox is not.
