No illusions here.  I would venture to say that it's not possible for any
sample library regardless of cost (let alone the sub-$300 GPO) to produce a
realistic solo violin passage, at least not enough to fool anyone with at
least one functioning ear into thinking that it was a real violinist.
There's no doubt in my mind that solo strings are the hardest thing for a
sample library to recreate realistically.  I'm a violinist too, though, so I
may be a little more sensitive to it than some.
