I'd be interested in hearing more about Finale in education elsewhere. I've always had this (probably largely unfounded) idea that Finale is for the most part still the prominent product in the States, is this true?
My sense is that you are correct. Our (university) music department had to leave Finale and switch to Sibelius the year all new Macs (our requirement for music majors) shipped with OS X, and Finale had no product available. Yes, that was a one-time foulup on their part, but it left us high and dry and lost them a regular revenue stream of maybe 35-40 new users a year in our music department alone, and I consider it unlikely that we will switch back any time in the near future after that one failure to support us.
