If I had a vote, yes, I'd vote against the rule. At the same time I think it's something on which reasonable people might differ, so I can see why others might support it.

Personally, I think the use of the word "normal" for this is wrong in
the first place. What is meant instead is "normative," i.e., what
*most* people do. "Abnormal" means unhealthy or wrong, whereas
there's nothing unhealthy about countertenor vocal production.

I'll buy that. Semantics is causing misunderstanding here, particularly with regard to "normal" and "natural".
