Absolutely. I can't really think of a reason why the two handles can't be there on the staves right from the start, with a contextual menu item on the bottom handle saying "Hide this staff for this system". And a menu item saying "Un-hide all staves for this system" for when you want to get them back again.

Also we should be able to optimize systems and staves from the staff tool, since that's what we have to use to move staves around. It's a pain in the neck having to change to the page layout tool all the time.

I've already suggested this to Makemusic last year but am happy to try again.

If Makemusic were serious about better page layout they'd license Tobias' Staff List Manager and integrate it into the application. As well as having numerical control over staves and being able to push a whole lot of staves down in one hit (no @[EMAIL PROTECTED] dragging!), there is also a vertical justification feature which generally works well if you get the numbers right.
