Regarding using different sound sources
simultaneously, this can not be done currently between
VST devices and MIDI Setup Output devices. You have to
go with one or the other. You can choose any
combination of VST devices - meaning you could mix
Finale GPO with the full GPO, Kontakt, EWQLSO, etc. OR
you could mix (as you always could) the soundfont,
sound card MIDI out device, etc.

One thing I have not personally tested and can not
comment on is whether using an external device for
MIDI output could work in tandem with VST instruments.
I suspect the answer is "no," but I don't know.
