You should repair permissions using either Disk Utility or Cocktail.

OK, I did that. Flash Player 7 still won't install, surprise surprise, and still tells me I lack sufficient permissions.

Someone wanna take my question seriously now?

Hiro already did. If Disk Utility didn't fix things (oh, and you restarted after repairing permissions, right?), then you have in all likelihood fouled up your permissions beyond all repair, and your best bet is probably a reinstall -- after moving *all* of your application and document folders to the correct directories on your HD.

You really would have a lot less trouble with OS X if you took _it_ seriously, Andrew. Especially when you are warned of dire consequences when you do X and you go ahead and insist on doing X anyway, because you think that's the way it ought to work. And then blame us for not being able to help you recover from doing what everyone warned you not to do.
