Not so. I had not heard of ClearType in XP Display options until
today. Tried in on my CRT at work. It improved readability.

I followed the instructions of the orginal poster and changed from
'Standard' to 'ClearType' in the display options.
Wow, I just tried it on my 19" Viewsonic monitor (resolution set to
1280x960) and Cleartype made things muddier and more difficult to read
-- setting it back to Standard made them clearer again.
