I actually like this feature (or "buglet," as you say). When they're
not actually covering anything, I sometimes forget that an expression
has opaqueness set or the dimansions of its "opaque block." If I drag
the expression to a new position, it doesn't automatically update the
display, so if I just move on to another page without redrawing I can
possibly end up with the opaque block covering up something it's
wasn't meant to cover.

I don't know if this was by design, but it sounds useful to me.
However, I admit that there should at least be an *option* to display
the page texture  behind opaque expressions.
