Hi Dean,
I believe Karen is right, and that further explanation is useful to
someone at your level of experience. If I understand correctly (and
I think I understand this kind of thing), what Karen is describing is
that when you put things in a "smart burn" folder (or when you use
another application to do the same thing), you are not actually
moving the files. (In order to do this safely, you'd need to make
copies of them and move them, so you wouldn't lose them. On your
system, you'd do this by dragging them to the new location while
holding down the "option" key.) What you are doing is telling the
burn folder to look for the real locations of these files and, when
the actual order to burn them takes place, to go to those locations,
find the files, and burn them. It takes a while to get one's head
around this, but it makes really good sense for the computer to do
things this way. We just have to learn to see why that is so.
Hope this helps ease your mind.

Hi Dean,
I believe that the files that are in the smart burn folder are
simply aliases not your original Appleworks 6 files. You should
find your original Appleworks files to confirm this. Then you can
just create a new Burn Folder and drag fewer files into it this
time...then try your burn again.

How do I get myself into these things. I created a New Burn
Folder, and was attempting to put some stuff in it. I dragged my
Folder of all my Appleworks 6 files into it, then saw that there
was too much data on the disk to do a burn, so I pulled the
Appleworks 6 Folder back onto the desk top. When I tried to open
it, the message came up and informed that it could not open
because the original could not be found.
How do I get it back, please. The option buttons are Delete Alias,
Fix Alias and OK.
