My Finale 2003 doesn't seem to do that at all, whether maximized or minimized. There are many programs that have idle threads that will sit and poll the system, and these often show up in Task Manager as very active even when they're not really doing anything significant (those threads are usually the lowest possible priority so that they give up the CPU to just about any other process that requests it), but my version of Finale doesn't seem to do that. I just checked the Finale 2005 demo, and it appears to be just about the same (though about 1 or 2% less CPU usage). -- David W.
