This is a special edition of full GPO, designed for use with Sibelius
(and from what I can gather, it can _only_ be used with Sibelius),
that must be purchased separately ($219). It ships in November.
Existing full GPO owners will apparently be able to upgrade to GPO
Sib Edition for a nominal fee. Apparently it will ship with an
updated version of the Konakt Player (perhaps based on Kontakt 2.0?)
It's unclear as to how it will compare to Human Playback's GPO
integration, but here's the marketing-speak:
Garritan Personal Orchestra integrates seamlessly with Sibelius 4,
and automatically reads and interprets performance indications such
as articulation marks, playing techniques, slurs and dynamics
(including hairpins) to make full use of GPO's advanced sample
programming, providing an exceptionally lifelike performance of
your score.
The collection comes with a special version of the acclaimed
Kontakt sample player from Native Instruments, which lets you play
32 different sounds at once, and includes a range of adjustable
parameters – reverb, brightness, tuning and other audio
characteristics – so you can control the sound of each instrument
individually. You can even export an audio file to create a CD of
your music, or convert to an MP3 file.
I suspect it won't be nearly as nice as Human Playback -- Espressivo
leaves a lot to be desired -- but I have to say, I'm impressed
Sibelius was able to get their GPO support together so quickly. Of
course, they aren't tied to yearly updates, so they can afford to be
a little more flexible.
