I've encountered this same problem, although I'm still using Fin2005. I found switching off Smart Hyphens once I'm in the final stages of layout seemed to help. Another “smart” feature that ended up being a few bricks short of a load!
Hope this helps,
Greg

Subject: [Finale] Smart Hyphen inconsistency
Reply-To: [email protected]
Using FinMac2006, I'm finding the Smart Hyphen placement maddeningly inconsistent. Most of the time, the hyphen is nicely centered between the two syllables, but every so often, it hugs the leftmost syllable like a barnacle, even when there is plenty of room between syllables. Often this happens on the exact same lyric that is displayed correctly on other systems. For instance:
System 1:
Noth- ing
System 2:
Noth - ing
Plus, I can't find any way to manually adjust Smart Hyphens. Help, anyone?
