what would you say the minimal standard should be? Thinking back over
the various "bugs" discussed on the list since I have participated, the
small number that affected sizeable minorities, or the majority of users
(as, for example, the MAC installer bug with 2k6) were fixed rather
quickly. However, most of the bugs I have seen reported affected
significantly smaller numbers of users: for example, I remember that
about a dozen people reported being affected by the "file overwrite
bug", and in the case of the current "Scary bug", I remember seeing
three people report they were affected: Don, Darcy, and Javier. There
are names of a number of other power users I recognize as MAC users
which are absent from this list. While it is possible that they have
experienced the issue and just not reported it, Johannes writes that he
has not experienced it.
It is not my intent here to trivialize anyone's misfortunes while using
Finale, but it seems to me that on the whole, MakeMusic does a pretty
good job, and gets more criticism than they deserve.
