Hey, Jan ... your English is just fine, thank you very much. The CD
with the drivers didn't seem to have a user's manual, but I can
recheck that. I did download a user manual from HP and am working my
way through it, but I can't figure out a way to save it to my desk
top, so either I have to print the bloody thing, or keep retrieving
it from their URL. Very unhandy. I do not know where the print
window is, to check for image quality, so haven't figured that out
yet. The quality is not really bad, but could be a little darker for
a full score I'm about to print up. Thank you for your patience with
this tyro.

It explains how to alter every setting you can adjust yourself
in a very comprehensible manner...
You might also check in the print window whether the image quality
is set for "highest quality" instead of "HP Economode"...
You can also check under "printer features" if the right type of media
you print on is selected...
If you want thicker slurs and symbols in Finale, you could fiddle with
your default file (document options...)...

The USB-2 printer delivers very fine print quality (1200dpi) and
has Postscript level 2 (emulation) on board. It is fast and
very reliable. It is inexpensive and definitely worth every
penny...
