It would be helpful, also to know what IPA font set you are using. Does
this character, perchance, map into the same slot as a "non-breaking"
hyphen (in found in slot 0173) in Trutype fonts? Thsi character does
not always display correctly in all items, and cannot, IIRC, be accessed
easily on the MAC.
One thing that you might try: open a blank text document in your
favorite text processor, and create a document which contains the
character you wish. Now, try copying the character from that document
into your Finale document where you want it, using "cut and paste" via
the clipboard.
Beyond this, this may be a problem for MACsupport.
