Well, you can do it in groups. If you're in page view, you can do select all in the Smart Shape tool and then change the slur direction from the Smart Shape menu. (Non-slur smart shapes are unaffected.) Or you can drag-enclose the specific group of measures you want and do the same.

Easier than one at a time, but not as easy as if there were something in the Mass Edit menu, I suppose. Or have I misunderstood your question?

And if you are in Scroll view and set magnification to really tiny, you can select a whole screenful with Cmd-A, which can be most of a short score.
