Johannes,
I just had the same experience!!!
I think maybe I have found a solution to this, but I will try it again
several more times to see if this really works. Give it a try and tell
me if this works for you:
1. I turned on my synthesizer first, and then opened up Finale and the
specific Finale file.
2. Go the MIDI menu, and unclick "Play Finale Through Native
Instruments AU"
3. Save your file and quit Finale.
4. With your synthesizer still on, open up Finale and your file. Try
playing your file through internal speakers using either SmartMusic
SoftSynth Playback or Quicktime Playback. If this works okay, go back
to the MIDI menu, and click on "Play Finale Through Native Instruments
AU". This seems to work now...If I were you, before I close this file
and shut down Finale, I would go back and uncheck "Play Finale Through
Native Instruments AU".
This is a pain in the neck, but, at least at the moment, this seems to
allow me to play back my file using the GPO instruments...let's see
what happens after I get home from work later today and see if my
workaround still works.
Let me know if this works for you.

For what it is worth, I just reloaded the same file, and now it plays
back without the crash. Weird.
It is possible that the other time my MIDI keyboard wasn't connected,
but this is unlikely...
